Submit Abstracts by October 31 on Innovative Energy Solutions

HOUSTON, September 30, 2019—The 23rd World Petroleum Congress (WPC) Organizing Committee today announced an extension for the Call for Papers for the 23rd World Petroleum Congress, which will be December 6-10, 2020 in Houston, TX, USA. In response to high interest from submitting authors, the new deadline to submit abstracts is October 31, 2019.

Authors are invited to share world-class solutions to industry challenges by submitting abstracts for paper and poster presentations at www.wpc2020.com. Topics include innovations in upstream, downstream and petrochemicals and natural gas. Other technical sessions will address the future energy landscape and the way forward in managing energy solutions. The Congress program committee (CPC) has developed 23 inspirational topics for the Technical Forums to showcase innovative approaches to energy challenges as the world seeks to address the growing demand for all forms of energy. Four papers and 10 posters will be selected for each Technical Forum.

“Many of our authors asked for an extension of the deadline, which was September 30,” said Pedro Miras Salamanca, vice president, WPC program and chair of the CPC. “We are pleased to be able to extend the deadline for those authors who are still working on their submissions to ensure we receive the highest quality abstracts for the Congress.”

Held every three years in select international cities, the World Petroleum Congress is the world’s premier oil and gas forum that attracts the attendance of heads of state, energy leaders and technical experts who discuss the challenges and opportunities of managing the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all. Under the theme of “Innovative Energy Solutions,” the 23rd World Petroleum Congress features a multistream conference, including strategic and technical sessions, programming for young professionals and special entertainment events such as a USA Night. The Congress is expected to draw some 700 speakers, 50 ministerial delegations, 500 CEOs, 1000 media representatives and 10,000 attendees.
